The magnet change principle

This principle was created by our very own founder. It states that to improve on who you were yesterday you have to make changes in your behaviour and maintain them despite the force of the magnets which want you to resume back to your old behaviours.

When you put new behaviours in place to improve your results, you have to constantly ensure the magnets do not snap back together. This means keeping the magnets far away apart from each other that even small slippages, don’t end in a full throwback to old behaviours.

Most people have experienced this, where they want to change negative behaviours and replace them with new improved behaviours, everything is going great until they decide to have a day off, and then it’s almost impossible to get the magnets back apart again.

The solution is to realise that even after weeks of change you still have to focus and ensure the magnets stay apart.

A good way to ensure this doesn’t happen is to have someone hold you accountable, by checking in to see how you have progressed. And to also be very clear about exactly what is expected of you in changing these behaviours, what is the intended outcome.

Change has to be managed, and if you don’t have someone there to help, then it’s important you manage yourself. Ask yourself regularly if you have been consistent and have you achieved your goals.
